Junko Bunco ~

Want to have a fun time with 12 of your junkin' girlfriends?

We did just that last week when I hosted our first JUNKO BUNCO night at my house!

If you haven't played Bunco before and you're thinking "what is she talking about?", Bunco is a simple dice game that you can buy at any big box retailer in the game section.  It's a great group game and adding some extra twists makes it even more fun!

I thought I would share how we made up our own version of Bunco by incorporating good friends, good food and good junk!

For starters, I added the word "JUNKO" just because it rhymed with Bunco and was just too cute!

I asked everyone to bring a "good junk" gift for a White Elephant Gift Exchange.

Also, I gave the option for everyone to wear vintage junk and we would vote on a winner.

We also all chipped in $5 each to a Bunco kitty.  At the end of our playing rounds, the person with the most Buncos got the kitty.

I crafted our score cards using random bits of vintage rickrack, scrabble letters and such.....

By just printing out a scorecard on card stock and adding some embellishments, it gives instant pizzazz!

I put together a little party favor for each guest to take home with them.  I used brown paper bags and added cute chalkboard tags from Michael's.

Inside each bag, our guests found an Eiffel Tower notepad and mini kleenex as well as a sampling of chocolates from Goumas Candyland!

As the Junko Bunko host, I provided dinner and drinks.  The menu included strawberry, spinach and almond salad with strawberry vinaigrette, fresh fruit, roasted zucchini and chicken aioli.  Dessert was pink ruffled cupcakes from O So Yummy Cakes.  I chose lemonade and spiked pink lemonade served in mason jars with grey and white striped paper straws.  We served a local vodka from Watershed Distillery in the lemonade {isn't their packaging great?}!

Plastic utensils wrapped up in doilies and twine.....

As I had mentioned, our guests had the chance to win a little something special for wearing the most "vintage junk" and I left it open to interpretation.  We had girls with vintage aprons on and oodles of vintage bling!  Our hands-down winner was Candace who wore her mom's wedding dress and veil from 1970!  Look how pretty!

After we ate and played Bunco, we went downstairs for a fun White Elephant gift exchange.  These girls really came up with some great junk gifts!  And the stealing was prevalent!    Michelle got a Paris tshirt and is coincidentally going to Paris next month!

Our sweet little Janet was really hoping to hold on to her gift of choice, a vintage florentine magazine holder and rosette pillow.

Bethany did a mighty fine job holding on to her cool wrought iron "thingy" until the very end when Keely went in for the big steal!

Our plan is to continue having JUNKO BUNCO parties monthy or at least bi-monthly.  A different person will host at their house each time.  It's a fun way to get to know other like-minded junk souls!

It really was great fun!

Cheers to Junko Bunco!

around the Granville shop (August 1st) ~

 Happy Wednesday Motley Junket friends!

The Granville shop is all filled back up!  We had a busy couple of weeks and things were looking a little bare.  But it's full again with so many fun finds!  Lots of photos to share!

Keely put together a very pretty dreamy creamy collection in the back room!
~ sweet display cabinet, candlesticks, lantern, shabby magazine table, pillar, lightning rod ~

~ several sets of louvered shutters, ironstone, canvas, patio set, basket, mannequin, seashell wreaths ~

~ old ceiling tins, shutters, ironstone pitcher, patio set ~

 ~ we heart ironstone ~

In the middle room of the shop, we've got some industrial stuff and lots of turquoise!

~ industrial drawers, industrial hanging light, bike basket, turquoise glass jugs, light aqua crates, mason jars, set of 4 industrial chairs, old workbench, fabulous old wire laundry basket (under the workbench filled with hydrangeas) ~

~ minnow bucket, light aqua crates (original paint and patina), wire hanging shelves, light aqua bushel basket, modern vase ~

~ tons of blue jars, drawers, cement balusters ~

~ there's a total of 5 jugs but this one is the most amazing turquoise color ~

~ vintage sling laundry cart in turquoise ~

We have a few new pieces of refinished and updated furniture such as this adorable demilune style side table.  It is painted in a soft grey while the ornate detailing stands out in bright white.

We also have this antique record cabinet refinished with light grey paint, distressing and vintage crackly ceramic knobs.  The inside has dividers for records but would be perfect for scrapbook paper or file folders.

This old cooler is very fun!  Wouldn't it look great overflowing with flowers?

We also worked on completely changing the front room!
~ vintage massage table with pipe legs styled as a daybed, glove molds, large vintage easel, drafting table, driftwood, croquet set, jacks made into candleholders, suitcases, primitive bench, jugs, croquet balls ~

~ this old carrier is HUGE!  I just think it would look amazing filled with pumpkins ~

~ old shopping cart, Seagram's box ~

One more area to show you!  It's very citrusy in lemon and lime!

I remade this antique one drawer stand with mustard yellow and light grey paint.  It's kind of a fun and quirky combination!  The knob is an amber glass flower.

Wow!  Lots of new things just in at Motley Junket located inside The Original Goumas Candyland at 113 N. Prospect in Granville Ohio.  We're just a few doors down from the fire station.  We'd love for you to stop by!  Granville is a sweet, pretty and quaint town with fun shops and nice restaurants!  It's a fabulous place for a day trip!
