Bring on the holidays!

Well, for me, the holiday season officially starts today!!  I don't discard my pumpkins and cornstalks until the day after Thanksgiving!  And, I don't do much Christmas decorating until now either!   I will admit I have done some Christmas shopping and just have gift cards left to purchase!

Also, I spruced up my booth at The Olde Shoe Factory Antique Mall in Lancaster, Ohio on Wednesday.  It kind of got me a little geeked up for the Christmas season and ready to add some sparkle to my own house!!

Come take a peek at this year's holiday assortment!

 Hands down, this is my absolute favorite thing I put in my booth!
this sweet vintage snapshot of a baby entranced by a single Christmas
ornament dangling from a pine branch...  (SOLD)

 vintage silvery gold ornaments decorated with glitter...

sweet vintage birds... (SOLD)

a pair of petite Italian vases...

Here is a view from down the aisle.
I always start with the windows and work outwards from there.
I was up on the ladder removing the window treatments and realized I had forgotten to pack the curtains I wanted to put up there!  So, plan B hatched when I looked in my tool kit and found a nice stack of vintage book pages and twine!  I love how it turned out!!  Yay for happy accidents!!

 old zinc sap pots....

this wonderful large bubbly glass bell cloche....

lots of freshly painted and distressed frames (SOLD), ironstone and ice skates (SOLD)
oh, and how cute is that vintage emerald green with white polka dots Anchor Hocking glass pitcher?!?!?

this old religious print is front and center as you enter my booth corner....

 Tons of vintage Shiny Brites in the pretties shades of celadon green, teal, and turquoise, vintage
owl cookie jar (SOLD)....

Let the holidays begin!!!

Christmas with Open Market Style ~

Good morning!

Blogger is wearing me out this morning!  Definitely has a mind of its own today!

~ smiling through it all though ~

or maybe a little bit not so much!

~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
At any rate, I spent part of my day last Friday visiting my friends Janet and Julie at Janet's
darling farmhouse in the country!  We nibbled on sweet treats, listened to Christmas music, chatted,
and took in all the eye candy that Janet has created within her home!
Come along for a visit!
as you pull in, you are greeted by this cute little barn...
Janet has all of her Christmas decorating DONE!
She bought this wreath at my garage sale and added a beautiful teal ribbon...
she and her husband designed and renovated this kitchen themselves!
I am so impressed by that!  Isn't it darling?!?!
fresh tulips in winter....be still my heart
ya'll knew there would be a dog picture mixed in, didn't you?  This is Sadie, Janet's pup.
the dining room...
Look at this GORGEOUS chair!!!  love love love
lovely milk glass collection and a little touch of industrial with that file drawer...
love how she nestled her tree into this industrial bin from IKEA....
a Janet original!  She is so talented and creative!!  And look at those french grey walls...
even her bathroom soaps are festive....
this is the family room.  she used pops of turquoise in her holiday decor here...
look at the original patina on this old french cabinet...
Isn't it lovely?  So cozy and sweet!  Your eyes just dance around taking it all in!
It was a really nice morning there with friends and then we jetted off to Granville
for a little bit of window shopping!
Thanks Janet for the wonderful morning and for sharing your home with all of us here in
blog world!
To each of you, enjoy your visit here, and pop over to Janet's blog, Open Market Style, to say
hello and let her know I sent you over!!
Enjoy your day, wherever you are...
Introducing Motley Junket
Some of you may have noticed that I haven't done many posts lately
about my little booth.  There has been so much going on these past few weeks!
Anniversary trips, milestone birthdays (which I must admit caused me a bit of distraction!),
furniture refinishing, house decorating, auctions,
and one other thing that I am just so excited to tell you about!
My friend Keely and I have decided to join forces and open a new booth at a HUGE antique mall in Columbus, Ohio.  This will help us reach out to a new market in our state's capital city.
Heritage Square Antique Mall (1865 Channingway Center Drive,  Columbus OH 43232)  has extended hours....they are open until 9pm both Friday and Saturday and noon - 6pm on Sundays!  We are doing it together, because, well, everything is more fun and easier with a friend!
~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
Keely is really good at finding cool old stuff!
She describes her decorating style as "modern country" liking a clean,
simplified look mixing old and new.  I've bought a ton of things from her over the past
few years such as wire baskets, chippy doors, and ephemera.  Her husband likes old toys,
so his interests always add a touch of whimsy to her merchandise assortment!

So, when we decided to partner up and split a booth, we both knew we would have quite
an eclectic mix of goods!  We hit different auctions and never know what the other is going to find!
It makes things fun, random, and quirky!  Which, as you know from getting to know me through
this blog, I'm all about fun, random, and quirky!  With all of that in mind, we wanted to come up with a name for our new booth space that would reflect our merchandise mix accurately and thus, the name was born.....

Motley Junket
a collection of random vintage wares

  • motley:  composed of diverse often incongruous elements
  • junket:  a festive social affair

Yep!  That fits us just right!  We will definitely have a motley mix of goods!  Primitive, modern, frenchie, country, shabby, industrial, cottage, maybe even retro now and then!  And for us, junking is social and festive, and visiting our booth should be social and festive too!  We want to meet our customers, say hello, and get to know them!  It's part of what makes this business unique!!

With that said, to give you an idea just how random our style is, I thought I would share
pictures of a few of the things comprising Motley Junket currently!

This first picture is a shot of our booth from across the aisle.  We are still figuring out the best
layout and usage of our space, so bear with us as we learn to decorate a booth with a pegboard
back wall and no side walls!!!

I brought in this funky old industrial shelf with just the right amount of crust and rust.
It is over 6 feet tall and about 4 feet wide.  It's original use was as a seedling starter,
but we removed the electrical components because it wasn't functioning anymore.  It is filled with
all sorts of tarnished silver, glassware (including a FRENCH glass ice container!), and
sparkly little odds and ends....

We have a 6 foot tall vintage aluminum pom pom tree!

Keely brought in the coolest life-size animated 1920's Santa that still works!!
LOVE LOVE!!

vintage nativity scene...

OODLES of these vintage squeezable Santas to clip to a tree branch....

a little bit of creamy dreamy sweet and shabby going on in this corner....

check out the vintage pink swirl Fire King cream and sugar set!!  So hard to find!!!

This petite child size dresser with attached mirror is freshly painted in crisp white!
It would make the perfect addition to a little girls room!
And the regal red frenchie chair is fit for a princess, don't ya think?!?!

So that is what I've been up to lately!

I will also still have booth space at The Olde Shoe Factory Antique Mall too!

Hope you are all having a great weekend!  We went to two auctions today hoping to
hunt and gather some treasures......and we did just that!    We got an interesting mix of stuff....ironstone, industrial carts, a commercial industrial restaurant shelf,  the most amazing vintage bottle brush candy canes, and an old ornate GRAY chunky frame!  All in all, it was a good day!  Long, but good!!

Happy weekend to you all!

thrifty finds

 Last night, I decided to head over to a local auction house to see what they might have.
Unfortunately, it was slim pickins, so I thought I would cruise on down the road a few miles
to the thrift store for some bargain hunting.

I left with lots of thrifty finds this visit!

a pair of blue and white ticking stripe tab top curtains....

which I'm trying out in the kitchen window currently
not sure if they'll stay there
but the fabric will come in handy for all kinds of projects if I don't use them as curtains

two euro size pillow inserts....

 this galvanized tin watering can......just love the shape!!

totally cute little skates trimmed in red....

vintage bling.....

a small picture frame with grey and white striped matte.
it just needs a coat of creamy paint....

two modern white frames to be used in my bedroom makeover....

4 IKEA canvas pillows.....I think they'll receive a frenchie iron-on before long!

and this large galvanized garden container

I'm glad I popped in there last night!

Do you love thrifting?
